When I began the process of deciding which of the many Cobras to build, I was initially attracted to the West Coast because it seemed to be better looking than the rest of them. Good looks aside, my primary criteria for the car would be handling. A trip to the factory and observing the frame construction and taking a test drive convinced me this was the right car for me. Because of the frame construction, there is absolutely no body roll during hard cornering. This allows for a more comfortable ride because stiffer springs are not required. For factory options, I chose stainless headers and side pipes, rear discs, engine dress-up package and the soft top. My choice for the engine was the Ford Motorsports 460ci 560hp version. Other drive train components were Richmond Gear (Doug Nash) 5 speed, centerforce clutch, Mcleod Hydraulic throwout bearing, and Lakewood Shield. Other items were Holley 850cfm carb and MSD 6AL ignition system. Also received $300 off my insurance premium by installing a Fire Bottle Halon on-board fire system. The car is a real head-turner and always gets alot of attention at cruise nights and car shows from fans and competitors alike. The car has been entered in 14 car shows and received 8 trophies. |
