Jim's paint job will win best of paint at a large car show and he is very proud of it We normally use Duponte 2-part paint but Jim asked for this special paint job. This is House of Colors Candy Apple Paint However....... This paint is very expensive, difficult and time consuming to apply. There is several additional coats of paint and steps to take using this brand of paint. According to the House of Colors, we could not bake any of the coats of paint in the painting process. You have to apply a coat, let it air dry then sand between coats. There is even two different clear coats used. The first type of clear coat (that is not very shiny) is to give you the depth and the second (final one) type of clear coat is to give you that deep shine that you normally only see on showcars or bikes. They use a totally computerized paint both. It controls the air temp and volume of air while painting and the varied temp and timing for the baking / drying process. Using this high quality paint booth minimizes the dust and touch up sanding / polishing later. We will not farm out any paint job to someone who does not have at least this good of a paint booth because it would mean more labor for them to wet sand & polish and a lot more money they would have to charge us @ $60 per hour. |
