Suspension
The rear suspension incorporates a Ford 9", 4-bar rear axle with a drop out center section. This extremely rugged system has been used as the basis for many race cars. Our coil over front / rear suspension was designed by using modern road racing technology on a computer simulator, to give you the ultimate in control and handling.
Brakes
Power brakes with a dual master cylinder combined with 11" vented rotors, heavy duty calipers, high performance brake pads, and an ABS brake system, gives you the best brake system money can buy.
Steering
Power assisted rack & pinion steering combined with the energy absorbing (collapsible) steering column and shaft, give you the positive steering you want with the minimum chance of injury in the event of an accident.
Electrical Wiring
The heavy duty wiring harness is designed specifically by W.C.C. to include volt meter, brake sensors, heater system, stereo system, electric fuel pump, safety switches and more. Heavy gauge wire and special heavy duty connectors assure trouble free service.
Fuel Cell
The West Coast Cobra is equipped with a race legal safety fuel cell as standard equipment. Combined with its location, it is virtually impossible for it to be ruptured.

In the automobile world, safety is classed as both "active and passive". Active safety is the maneuverability of the automobile which enables it to avoid an accident. This depends on the performance and handling characteristics. With the ideal weight distribution, positive steering, low center of gravity, powerful braking and fast acceleration, the W.C. Cobra provides everything the alert driver need to cope with any possible traffic situation.
The cars ability to withstand the impact of an accident and provide the maximum amount of protection for the occupants is "passive" safety. The W.C. Cobra is designed to meet and exceed these requirements. The drivers compartment is a steel cage sitting between zones of controlled penetration designed to absorb and dissipate the crushing impact of a collision, minimizing injuries. The W.C. Cobra is not just a means of transportation.....it is built so that driving itself becomes an experience!
W.C. Cobra is 6" longer and 4" wider than the original to give enough room in the cockpit for those of you who are over 5'8" tall or over 160 lbs. The longer wheelbase and wider track greatly increases the stability, handling at any speed, comfort of the ride, and the feeling of security.
As pointed out in Nov. 91/ Kit Car Specialty magazine ("New Cobra Kits - Better Than the Original?"), the underlying structure is a box-tube spaceframe with main rail measuring 1 1/2" x 4". The ancillary framing, some 320 pcs. in all, consists largely of 1" x 2" rectangle tubing and sheet metal that stiffens the chassis in both the horizontal and vertical planes. The frame is tig-welded (Tungsten Inert Gas), a much more precise method than Mig welding.
West Coast Cobra has taken first place for "Best in Show" in most events participated in, even competing with 50 - 85 other Cobras of almost every manufacturer at the 1991, 1992, and 1993 Run & Gun events sponsored by Kit Car Illustrated. We also won "Top Dog" in drag racing (1st place in all classes) in the 1993 Run & Gun competing against professional race prepared Cobras and professional drivers.
